Manor Wood School was delighted to welcome 27 families to our recent Open Evening, providing a valuable opportunity to experience our school, meet staff and discover the welcoming, supportive environment we work hard to create for every pupil.
Throughout the evening, families were able to engage with staff, ask questions and learn more about life at Manor Wood. The warmth of the environment and the genuine relationships between staff and pupils made a strong impression. Several families shared that they could picture their children attending the school — a powerful reflection of the sense of belonging, care and possibility that we want every family to feel when they walk through our doors.
A particular highlight was the involvement of our pupils, Skye, Annie and Zak, who played an important role in helping to facilitate the event. They supported families, showed parents around the school and helped younger visitors feel comfortable by spending time with them and playing alongside them. Their contribution gave visiting families an authentic insight into school life, with pupils themselves helping to tell the story of Manor Wood.
What stood out was not only the confidence and kindness shown by Skye, Annie and Zak, but also the way they supported one another. Their teamwork, encouragement and willingness to help demonstrated the positive relationships we aim to nurture across our school community. They were excellent ambassadors for Manor Wood, showing visitors that inclusion is not just reflected in our words or policies, but in the everyday actions of our pupils.
Open Evening was also an opportunity to showcase the partnership between home and school that sits at the heart of our work. Choosing a school is a significant decision for any family, and we recognise the importance of helping parents feel listened to, welcomed and confident that their child will be known, understood and supported as an individual.
We would like to thank all 27 families who joined us, the staff who gave their time to speak with visitors, and especially Skye, Annie and Zak for the maturity, care and teamwork they demonstrated. Their contribution helped make the evening feel personal, friendly and memorable.
“Skye, Annie and Zak touring parents on Open Evening and playing with parents’ children — just the support of each other has been superb.”
At Manor Wood, every welcome is an opportunity to build trust, create belonging and show families what is possible.
Every Child Known. Every Adult Trusted. Every Day Intentional.
